ESL Write Away was founded in 2014 based on the principle that a strong ability to write and communicate in English opens doors to international travel, professional and education opportunities. While no longer active, this page remains a resource for students and all writers in English.

About the Founder: Mariel Tavakoli

Mariel is a native of the NYC area in the United States and graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy and Sociology from The College of William and Mary in 2013 and an MSc. in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford in 2018. She started ESL Write Away following her first English teaching experience through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Mariel loves to travel and has found writing to be an important skill in order to access scholarships, jobs, and study programs abroad.
